Calldera is an automated, personalized wine recommendation service. Think of us as the online dating service for you and wine. Using a patent-pending system to determine and match your unique taste preferences to specific flavors intrinsically present in wine, Calldera recommends a continuously updated, customized selection of wines for you and informs you of local and online retail locations where you can purchase the recommended wines. This means no more wasteful and disappointing purchases of wines whose descriptions sound great based on someone s subjective characterization or opinion, wines that critics who do not share your tastes have recommended or wines that you have unconfidently selected through a trial-and-error process, perhaps based on price, a nice label or the fact that you enjoyed last year s vintage of the wine (which is not the same as this year s vintage!). Calldera gleans information about your individual taste preferences for wine from the answers that you provide to a simple questionnaire about your preferences for various smells, foods and drinks other than wine. In addition to using your answers to the questionnaire, the Calldera application at times solicits and incorporates your feedback regarding recommended wines to inform future recommendations. The Calldera application provides you with pertinent information about each recommended wine, such as vintage, grape variety, alcohol content, price and an average user rating that other Calldera subscribers have given the wine. In addition, the Calldera application lets you keep track of the wines that you have drunk, allowing you to rate each wine and provide tasting notes that you can later reference or share with others. Calldera also lets you recommend wines to your friends, either directly or by posting the recommendation to Facebook or messaging about it on Twitter all via the application. You, in turn, can receive via the Calldera application wine recommendations from friends who are also Calldera subscribers. Wine, unlike many food products that are made according to recipe, is a dynamic product. Various combinations of grape variety, regional climates, yearly agricultural growing conditions, and production methods result in wines whose taste characteristics are, until tasted, largely unpredictable. And, that is where Calldera comes in each wine recommended by the Calldera service has been evaluated by Calldera using objective, scientific techniques and instruments to determine the taste characteristics present in the wine (e.g., tannin, acid, sugar, body) that are also discernable by the human tongue, mouth and sense of smell. Because of the dynamic nature of wine and the fact that we objectively evaluate every wine that we recommend to you, the Calldera service is beneficial for expanding wine enjoyment for novices and experts alike it is simply infeasible and uneconomical as an individual to keep track of more than a handful of the plethora of wines that are available for purchase at any one time. Wine is complex and social, and so are you and Calldera is all about expertly bringing the two of you together!
